MSF5000 / PURC5000

ANALOG STATION
PROGRAMMING EQUIPMENT

This document describes the programming equipment needed to program a MSF5000 “CLB” or “analog” base or repeater station.  Most of the information is also applicable to the PURC5000 “JLB” series paging station.  The programming equipment you will need consist of the following:

bulletA complete and functional R1800 series Digital Analyzer / Controller (DA/C) "suitcase programmer"  which includes:

R1800 series Digital Analyzer / Controller (DA/C) (must have the 4K memory option)
        R
eader / Programmer module with interconnecting cables
bulletRTL-4826 Program Application Kit
bulletThe Program Application Kit consists of 7 EPROMS that contain the necessary software for the DA/C to read and / or program the station control codeplug (U803) and the multi-coded squelch (MCS) codeplug (U1405) used in the “CLB” MSF5000 Base and Repeater Stations and the “JLB” PURC5000 Paging Stations.
bulletLatest version is 8.0
bulletThe EPROMS in the application kit are MC68764 series EPROMS and are identified by labels on each EPROM. They include the kit number and its suffix, followed by the software revision number, i.e. RTL-4826C-06. Individual part numbers for each ROM are:
bullet51-80364A46
bullet51-80364A48
bullet51-80364A56
bullet51-80364A72
bullet51-80364A73
bullet51-80369B08
bullet51-80369B09
bulletRTL-5817 codeplug adapter module
bulletThe RTL-5817 Adapter Module provides the hardware interface for the codeplug to the R1800 DA/C Reader/Programmer module.
bulletVersion 6 or newer software requires a RTL-5817B codeplug adapter module. If you have a RTL-5817A codeplug adapter module it must be upgraded to a “B” version in order to use version 6 or newer software.
bulletRTK-4061 Serial Port Cable (optional)
bulletThis cable allows the DA/C to read the codeplug contents without removing the EPROM from the station.
bulletRTK-4041 Printer Interface Cable (optional)
bulletThis cable allows you to print out the contents of the codeplug
bulletRPX-4040 EPROM eraser (optional)
bulletNeeded to erase the memory eproms for reprogramming
bulletSpare Eproms
bulletThe station codeplug information is stored in a 2732 or 2732A series EPROM. Most standard 2732 or 2732A EPROMs will work in the R1800 but we have run across some EPROMs that the R-1800 refuses to program.  If you run into an eprom that won’t program then try another eprom.  Motorola no longer stocks the blank eproms, so you will have to find them elsewhere.
bulletThe MCS codeplug information is stored in a 2816A eeprom or a 2732 or 2732A series EPROM.
